The cast of BBC mockumentary This Country to host two charity events this July

The cast of the BAFTA-winning BBC mockumentary This Country are hosting two charity events on 20th and 21st July, one of which includes a cast meet and greet (not confirmed who yet) at just £2.50.

If you are a fan of the show then this is a rare opportunity to get to see the cast in character live and to possibly meet them too.

The first event is a live gig on Saturday 20th July at The Jubilee 77 Club in Cirencester with local acts The Leon Daye Band and Erica. The Leon Daye Band are a local rock band who address environmental issues in their song The Gift and also writes of life in their hometown of Cirencester, which is also home to The Coopers. The event runs from 5.30 pm till 11pm.

The second event is a charity football game that will undoubtedly be a hoot. This game sees the This Country cast vs The Cirencester Town Veterans. The This Country cast include Charlie Cooper (Kurtan), Trevor Cooper (Len) and Paul Chahidi (Rev Francis) as The Management Team, Paul Cooper (Martin Cooper Kerry’s dad) and Daisy Cooper (Kerry) as the cheerleader. Who doesn’t want to see Kerry attempt cheerleading? Let’s see if her Dad (Da) will brush her off in this scenario.

The game will be held at Cirencester Football Club on July 21st with doors at 12pm and kick off at 2pm. Tickets are £10 and purchased at the Football club on the day. Kids under 18 are free and there will be a kids football match beforehand. Other children’s activities will also be included as well as a bar and food.

The charities that the events are raising money for are:

  • National Children’s Football Alliance: Who aim to get more boys and girls actively playing football.
  • Shine Once More – A support group for mums with Post Natal Depression.
  • The Big Yellow Bus Project – A safe warm shelter for the homeless in Cirencester
  • Building a School for Vulnerable Girls in Zambia

All more than worthy charities and for the small cost to hang with some of TV’s funniest characters from a Bafta Winning show, why not come along? Bring the kids, get them involved too and just have a fun day out in The Cotswolds whether you are a local or not.

This Country is a mockumentary that follows the painfully dull yet hilarious lives of cousins Kerry and Kurtan Mucklowe in a typical Cotswold Village. Real life brother and sister Daisy and Charlie Cooper are the geniuses behind the show, and they also write and star in it.

The show documents Kerry and Kurtan’s day to day lives and showcases the struggles of living in the Cotswolds when there is little to do, little work to get and everyone knows everyone.
