If you’re not up to date with Curfew and like to avoid spoilers we suggest you don’t read any further.

Set in the near future a virus has swept around the world and turned those infected into zombies. Sensitive to the light they come out at night. To keep people safe, a curfew has been introduced forcing everyone inside each night.

An elusive tech billionaire, named Max Larssen (Adam Brody), has created an annual illegal street race where the winning team gains a chance to escape to his mysterious island. Entrants need to obtain a special piece of tech that gives them the location and entry to the race.

The episode introduced us to several characters who are hoping to win the race. The first were Michael Garwick (Malachi Kirby) and his girlfriend Ruby Newman (Aimee-Ffion Edwards). Ruby had bust Michael out of a medical facility and the pair were heading to the race start location. He was been held as they believed he was the key to a cure for the virus.

They were pursued by the authorities and Michael crashed their car. Miraculously unhurt, they escaped on foot and went to pay a visit to The General (Sean Bean). Michael hoped that The General would be able to provide them a new car for the race. The General agreed and said he’d source a new vehicle by the end of the day. The General was also planning to enter with his pregnant girlfriend Rose Williams (Faith Palladino). He later let Michael down by not even trying to get him a vehicle.

They killed time by meeting up with Ruby’s sister Kaye (Phoebe Fox) who was working as a paramedic. Kaye was secretly looking after their infected mother who Ruby thought dead. Their presence alerted the authorities who stormed the house and ended up killing the mother. Kaye was talked into driving them to the race and decided she’d enter as their driver. We also learnt that Kaye and Michael used to be a thing and she was part of a team that helped him walk again.

Meanwhile, the Donahue family also planned to enter. They risked everything they owned to enter and took their money to The General. He took their money in exchange for the required tech. The son Roman (Ike Bennett) spotted that the tech was fake so his father, Simon (Adrian Lester), pulled a gun. The General laughed and gave up the real tech.

Before Team Donohue left for the race, their daughter Megan (Jessye Romeo) decided to leave with her boyfriend Zane (Elijah Rowen). Simon ran out into the night to try and stop them but was killed by the zombies. The family came together and went to the race without Simon.

The episode ended with the entrants sat with their cars in a circle as the race was about to get underway. Who will win? Will Sean Bean die? Guess we’ll have to keep watching.

On the second episode of Curfew. The race is on and the road ahead is packed with dangers. The Donahues face up to a huge setback. Then, things go wrong on the Thames.

Curfew continues at 9pm Friday on Sky One. Preview it with our gallery below:
