10 game releases to watch out for in February 2019

Including Anthem, Metro: Exodus and Trials Rising.

January was a decent start to the year for gaming and not as quiet as many previous years. My top picks for last month were Resident Evil 2 Remake, Genesis: Alpha One and Life is Strange 2: Episode 2.

February is going to be an expensive month as there are some huge titles on the way. With big releases across all the major platforms there’s enough variety on offer for all types of players.

Of all of the February releases, I’m most looking forward to Anthem. I’m also super keen to check out Trials Rising, Metro Exodus and Crackdown 3.

Here’s a full list of my 10 games to watch out for in February 2019:

February 1st

DreamWorks Dragons Dawn of New Riders (PC, PS4, Xbox One, Switch)

A new heroic dragon and rider are taking to the skies and only you can help them defeat the evil villains who destroyed a dragon sanctuary created by Hiccup, Toothless, and his dragon riders. The game is aimed at children aged 5-12 years old and is set to release alongside the new movie How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World providing a brand new story that leads into the film.

February 15th

Crackdown 3 (PC, Xbox One)

Time to step up your boom and stop crime as a super-powered Agent in Crackdown 3’s sandbox of mayhem and destruction. Explore the heights of a futuristic city, race through the streets in a transforming vehicle, and use your powerful abilities to stop a ruthless criminal empire. Crackdown 3 delivers cooperative mayhem and an all-new multiplayer mode where destruction is your ultimate weapon powered by Microsoft Cloud.

Far Cry New Dawn (PC, PS4, Xbox One)

Lead the fight against the vicious Highwaymen, led by twin sisters Mickey and Lou, in an all-new Far Cry, set in Hope County, Montana, 17 years after the global nuclear catastrophe. The remaining populace has divided into different groups, each with their own rules for survival. Form unexpected alliances, build a deadly arsenal of makeshift weapons using the remnants of the old world.

Metro: Exodus (PC, PS4, Xbox One)

Metro Exodus is an epic, story-driven first person shooter from 4A Games that blends deadly combat and stealth with exploration and survival horror in one of the most immersive game worlds ever created. Flee the shattered ruins of dead Moscow and embark on an epic, continent-spanning journey across post-apocalyptic Russia in the greatest Metro adventure yet.

February 19th

Yakuza Kiwami (PC)

SEGA’s critically-acclaimed entry that started a legend. Become Kazuma Kiryu, an up-and-coming yakuza who takes the fall for the murder of a crime boss, only to emerge from prison ten years later to a changed world. Remastered from the ground up, now in 4K and uncapped framerates on PC.

February 22nd

Anthem (PC, PS4, Xbox One)

The latest game from EA and BioWare is a social, connected action-RPG focused on co-operative multiplayer for up to four players. On a world left unfinished by the gods, humanity struggles to survive in a savage environment. Equipped with incredible Javelin exosuits, a faction known as the Freelancers seeks to tip the balance in mankind’s favor.

February 26th

Dirt Rally 2.0 (PC, PS4, Xbox One)

DiRT Rally 2.0 dares you to carve your way through a selection of iconic rally locations from across the globe, in the most powerful off-road vehicles ever made, knowing that the smallest mistake could end your stage.

Trials Rising (PC, PS4, Xbox One, Switch)

Trials Rising is the latest entry in the Trials franchise and promises new features, more competition and a fresh visual look. There’s more tracks than ever before to challenge beginners and experienced players alike. Trials Rising brings iconic locations including the Great Wall of China and the Eiffel Tower. There’s also a hilarious new Tandem Bike that lets two riders control it at the same time, each contributing fifty percent of the power and balance.

February 28th

Fimbul (PC, PS4, Xbox One)

Fimbul is a single-player comic-book, action adventure. Set in the final winter before Ragnarök, The Fimbul Winter. You play as an old berserk, travelling to Jötunheim to fulfill his destiny, battling Trolls and Jotuns to reclaim an ancient artifact that might, just might save Midgard.

February TBA

Dick Wilde 2 (Rift, Vive, PSVR)

Dick Wilde 2 takes players to a host of new locales which have been infected by the massive outbreak of toxic spillage. This foul sludge has mutated the local wildlife into the most vicious critters ever seen by the river folk. The sequel features cross-platform VR online co-op, meaning that PS4 and PC fans can play together. Filling the shoes of Dick Wilde’s two apprentices, you and a friend can rid the swamp of those nasties as you both play VR.
