Today we continue our Christmas Movies A to Z with the letter E and there’s really only one choice isn’t there? Elf!
Will Ferrell’s 2003 classic sees the comedian playing Buddy Hobbs, a human that was raised by Santa’s elves. After overhearing that he’s human and finding out who his real parents are, Buddy goes in search of children’s book publisher Walter Hobbs (James Caan) who is on Santa’s naughty list.
What ensues is a hilarious adventure that’s been keeping families entertained for years. Elf also features a star making turn from New Girl’s Zooey Deschanel and stars screen legend Mary Steenburgen.
Elf has become so popular that it was turned into a musical in 2010. The show has since played in various places across the world including London’s West End.
It also spawned the stop motion animation adventure Elf: Buddy’s Musical Christmas.
Fans have been wanting a sequel for years with director Jon Favreau stating that it’s possible but star Will Ferrell expressing a lack of interest in reprising the role.
Pick up a copy of Elf and enjoy the classic film this Christmas!
If Elf isn’t your cup of tea, then how about Tim Burton’s classic Edward Scissorhands? It’s not technically a Christmas film but it is set around the holidays and there’s plenty of snow in it! Johnny Depp and Winona Ryder make quite the onscreen pairing in the quirky tale of an artificially created human who has scissors for hands and has to learn to live in the real world.
Come back tomorrow to find out what our choice for F is…
