EF’s Underdogs: Coops interview

In most recent years Coops has been busy working on his music and is now part of the High Focus Recordings family. His latest album, Life In The Flesh is a conceptual album primarily focused on the cycle of life, death & reincarnation of the spirit/soul. I catch up with him to discuss his new album and future work. Keep reading to find out who this charismatic artist is.

Hello, how are you?

Hi. I’m good, but real tired.

Where does this Q & A find you today?

You found me in my bedroom on my bed super slumped after a long day of filming a music video.

Can you tell our readers how you first got into music?

Well I guess my reasons for first getting into music were because I always wanted to sing and rap since I was a little kid, then one day I decided to give it a go and write a lyric. Now here I am.

You have a new album, Life In The Flesh, can you tell me how it came to be?

Ironically Life In The Flesh started in my bedroom. I had no studio at the time so just started writing and recording at home in my room which I was pretty pissed about at the time but looking back in hindsight it was really lucky I did because If I hadn’t then i may not of had most of the sick records that now make up Life In The Flesh.

Does the album explore any themes?

Yes, to sum it up in a nut shell the album explores themes of life, death, reincarnation & everything that could possibly come in-between.

What is the next single and what is it about?

The next single is called ‘Free Up’ and it’s about the obstacles that inner city youth of minority and poverty face in today’s world. Some of which being poor institutions of education, high rates of crime and incarceration, police prejudices and racial profiling, inequality in the judicial system and being targets in the media to name a few. So yeah it’s pretty powerful.

Where can our readers see you perform?

I post all shows on my socials so follow me on @CoopsOfficial for all the latest.

What are your plans for the rest of the year?

To make and release more music and videos!
