The Good Doctor returned to UK screens last week as it kicked off its second season.
It was revealed that Andrews (Hill Harper) was now President of the hospital after Shaun (Freddie Highmore) admitted his mistake at the end of season one, which cost Glassman (Richard Schiff) his job. Andrews’ first task was to hold performance reviews with the team where he told Claire (Antonia Thomas) to be more assertive and Morgan (Fiona Gubelmann) to work on becoming a team player.
Shaun and Jared (Chuku Modu) were paired together on the latter’s final day at the hospital to run a mobile clinic. They came across a mentally unstable homeless man and Jared convinced Shaun to bend the rules so they could treat him. In the end Shaun diagnosed a brain tumour and convinced the homeless man to have treatment.
Meanwhile Morgan screwed over Claire (again) when an idea they had to resolve a heart condition for a patient was rejected by Dr. Melendez (Nicholas Gonzalez) and Morgan pointed the finger at Claire. Claire eventually convinced him to go through it, with the help of Andrews aggressively pushing it to give the hospital a PR boost.
Elsewhere Jared left the hospital for good, Shaun decided to help Glassman through his treatement, and Lea (Paige Spara) unexpectedly returned and surprised Shaun outside his apartment.
The next episode of the season is Middle Ground. As Shaun pushes back against Dr Melendez to treat an ill hospital janitor, Dr Lim risks a lawsuit and her career to help a girl repair the damage caused by an archaic custom. Also, Dr Glassman exercises demanding oversight regarding his own surgery.
