Jennifer Lopez fakes her way to the top in Second Act trailer

Jennifer Lopez is making a welcome return to the rom-com genre with her latest movie Second Act.

Playing the role of Maya, a 40-year-old woman struggling with frustrations from unfulfilled dreams, Lopez finds her character getting an unexpected opportunity with a new job on Madison Avenue.

In the trailer Maya ponders how she got to the point in her life she finds herself at and thanks to a fake Facebook profile, she lands a top job that she’s, on paper at least, not qualified to do.

Second Act also stars Leah Remini (The King of Queens), Vanessa Hudgens (High School Musical) with Treat Williams (Hair) and Milo Ventimiglia (This is Us). The film is directed by Peter Segal, best-known for 50 First Dates, The Longest Yard and Grudge Match.

It’s been a while since Lopez paid a visit to the rom-com genre. Her last movie in the genre was 2012’s What to Expect When You’re Expecting. Over her career to date she’s made some classic rom-coms including 2001’s The Wedding Planner, 2002’s Maid in Manhattan and 2005’s Monster-in-Law.
