APE presents: The National review

All Points East continued this weekend with three special shows from Catfish and the Bottlemen, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds and The National.

It was a glorious day to see The National and the band did not disappoint it they performed its biggest hits including songs from the Grammy-winning album, Sleep Well Beast. The band was on great form and with the help of APE’s great soundsystem mesmerised the crowd. Frontman, Matt Berninger serenaded festival-goers with his deep melancholic voice adding to the nostalgic feel of the music. Also sharing the main stage, where Baltimore pop band, Future Islands. The band’s blend of melancholic pop and strong vocals went down well and captivated all fans. Perhaps unsurprisingly it was when the band performed hit song, Seasons (waiting on you) that they received the biggest cheers and of course everyone sang along.

Before The National took the stage, The War On Drugs headlined on The North Stage where the band performed a mellow set, which felt perfect as the sun was setting in the background. The set culminated with Under The Pressure and In Reverse. Playing also on the North stage was band, Warpaint, who were absolutely fantastic to watch. The women of Warpaint were in great form and hypnotic to watch as they belted out their biggest tracks. We loved their set and thought this was one of their best performances to date.

APE presents The National was a great day out and was full amazing entertainment. Each band seemed to be carefully selected by All Points East organisers, who perfectly matched these wonderful musicians.
