Carrie Underwood recently released the music video for her new single Cry Pretty.

Following its premiere on a recent episode of American Idol, Underwood has released the music video online. Directed by Randee St. Nicholas, Cry Pretty sees the singer in the shower, getting ready for a performance and performing the track live.

The video features scenes of Underwood crying in various locations such as her dressing room, bedroom, shower and limousine.

Cry Pretty is the title track from Underwood’s album of the same name, which will be released on 14th September 2018. The track was written by Underwood with Hillary Lindsey, Liz Rose and Lori McKenna.

Since its release in the US, Cry Pretty has reached the Top 5 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and the Top 20 on the Country Airplay chart. It’s also fast rising up the all-genre Billboard Hot 100.

Underwood performed Cry Pretty for the first time at the 53rd Academy of Country Music Awards, which marked her first appearance since suffering a fall and serious injuries at the end of 2017. She received a standing ovation from the audience and rave reviews from fans and critics.

Cry Pretty is Underwood’s second track for her new label home Capitol Nashville, following the release of promotional single The Champion featuring Ludacris earlier in the year.
