Brett Young picks up ACM New Male Vocalist of the Year award

Brett Young has won New Male Vocalist of the Year at the 53rd Academy of Country Music Awards.

The singer-songwriter found out the news when Reba McEntire, who is hosting the awards, called him. Young posted a clip of the moment he found out on his Instagram account and you can watch it below:

ā€œI was blown away when I got the call from Reba. Winning an ACM Award is something every Country artist dreams about,” Young said. ā€œItā€™s an absolute honor to receive this award in a category of incredible artists, and Iā€™m so thankful to the ACM and my fans for making this a reality.ā€

Young will perform at the ACM Awards, which take place on Sunday 15th April 2018 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. The ceremony will be broadcast live on CBS in the US.

New Male Vocalist of the Year is one of three awards that have been announced ahead of the awards. Lauren Alaina picked up New Female Vocalist of the Year and Midland won New Vocal Group or Duo of the Year.

2017 was a breakout year for Young. He had three number ones – Sleep Without You, In Case You Didn’t Know and Like I Loved You – and In Case You Didn’t Know was recently certified 3x Platinum. He’s the only debut Country artist to reach that milestone since 2014.

Young released new single Mercy, along with the stunning music video, and it’s shooting up the charts. Don’t be surprised if he adds another number one and Platinum hit to his already impressive tally.

Last year Young embarked on his first headline tour, the Caliville Tour, and this spring he will be heading out on the road with Thomas Rhett on the Life Changes Tour 2018. Earlier this month Young wowed fans in London, Glasgow and Dublin as part of C2C: Country to Country.
