Kelsea Ballerini makes history as Legends hits number one

Kelsea Ballerini has made history by achieving the most numbers ones for a female artist since debuting on the Billboard Country Airplay chart in 2015.

Her latest single Legends has hit the top of the Country Aircheck and the Billboard Country Airplay charts this week. Legends was written by Ballerini with Hillary Lindsey and Forest Glen Whitehead and is the lead single from her latest album Unapologetically.

Ballerini remains the first female artist in Country music, including female duos and groups, to achieve number 1 with her first three consecutive singles – Love Me Like You Mean It, Dibs and Peter Pan – from a debut album.

Where her debut single Love Me Like You Mean It hit number one, it marked the first time a solo female artist had topped the chart since Carrie Underwood’s Blown Away almost three years earlier. Ballerini is also the first solo female artist in nine years to hit number 1 with her debut Country single and one of only 11 women to have ever reached that feat with a debut.

The singer-songwriter’s next single is I Hate Love Songs, which is heading to Country radio tomorrow with an impact date of 12th March. Ballerini co-wrote the song with Shane McAnally and Trevor Rosen.

ā€œI will never forget introducing I Hate Love Songs at the Grand Ole Opry before my record was even out, and just the overwhelming feeling of magic. Iā€™d never experienced anything like that before with a song,ā€ Ballerini recalls. ā€œItā€™s sweet and sassy and I hope you love it as much as I do.ā€

Ballerini is currently on her headline The Unapologetically Tour and will head to the UK in March to perform on the Main Stage at C2C: Country to Country 2018. She will them travel to Australia for CMC Rocks and the continuation of her headline tour.
