Kylie Minogue has unveiled the music video for her new single Dancing.
Taking the song’s underlying Country feel, Dancing finds Kylie in a 1970s Nashville motel room, sees her line-dancing and mixes in The Day of the Dead too. The clip, directed by Sophie Muller, opens with Kylie playing guitar and it was shot over 2 days at London’s Bush Hall.
The guitar Kylie uses in the video was found in a junk shop for £12 by Muller and was customised with hundreds of crystals. Fans will remember that Kylie’s famous gold hot-pants from the Spinning Around video cost only 50p, proving that Kylie can make anything look good!
Talking about the video Kylie says, “Life’s all just moments which all join up – some of them are great, and some of them are less than sparkling – but ultimately I wanted this video to reflect the celebratory nature of the song”.
The choreography in the video is a twist on line dancing and it presented a bit of a challenge for Kylie. “I always thought I could learn routines quickly but this was different. However, by the time I had to dance with the Grim Reaper at the end I had mastered it. And if that’s not a funny allegory for life I don’t know what is!”.
Dancing is out now and Kylie’s new album Golden arrives on 6th April via BMG.
