Kylie Minogue clinches Christmas number one with ‘XMAS’

Following a hard-fought campaign, Kylie Minogue has won the race for Christmas number one with her festive track ‘XMAS'.

The Amazon Music Original beat stiff competition from festive favourite ‘Last Christmas' by Wham! to clinch the top spot. The achievement comes 37 years after Kylie's Official Chart debut with ‘I Should Be So Lucky' and it's her first ever UK Christmas number 1. Watch a video message from Kylie below:

Her eighth UK number one single, ‘XMAS' has helped Kylie to break another chart record – she becomes the first female artist to boast UK Number 1 singles across four different decades – the 1980s, 1990s, 2000s and 2020s. The achievement surpasses Lady Gaga, Madonna and Mariah Carey, all of whom have topped the Official Singles Chart across three decades.

Speaking exclusively to Official Charts, Kylie says: “It’s hard to put into words how special this feels. Being Christmas Number 1 really is the most wonderful gift! I’m so thankful to everyone who’s been listening and sharing the love and I’m wishing you all a very Merry Christmas!”

‘XMAS' reaching the chart summit also gives Amazon Music their first Official Christmas Number 1 single, after placing high with releases from Tom Grennan, Sam Ryder and Ellie Goulding. Kylie's ‘XMAS' is available exclusively through Amazon Music and is also available on physical CD and vinyl, and included on Amazon editions of Kylie's number 1 album ‘Kylie Christmas (Fully Wrapped)'.

Martin Talbot, Chief Executive, Official Charts comments:

“Congratulations to Kylie – what an amazing achievement by our adopted ‘national treasure’! Since she announced her plan to enter the festive chart race, we have always felt she could mount a serious challenge, but it was hard to imagine that she would send the records toppling as she has this week.

“Now, with what feels like a genuine festive banger, she has claimed the Christmas Number 1 2025. And it already feels as if ‘XMAS' has a genuine chance of becoming one of the nation’s favourite, recurrent, festive classics, returning year after year. Maybe, finally, Mariah has a challenger for her crown – Kylie, the new queen of Christmas?”

On Kylie’s success, Laura Lukanz, Head of Music Industry, Amazon Music UK, says:

“We are absolutely thrilled to celebrate Kylie Minogue’s ‘XMAS' achieving the UK Christmas Number 1 – a historic milestone both for Kylie and for Amazon Music, as this is the first Amazon Music Original ever to reach Number 1 on the Official Christmas Singles Chart.”
