Mellie (Bellamy Young) continued to put her heart before her head on the latest episode of Scandal.

Desperate to help President Rashad (Faran Tahir) defeat the coup in Bashan, Mellie promised that she would restore him to power through any means necessary. Until she figured out a solution, Olivia (Kerry Washington) put Rashad’s niece in the custody of Quinn (Katie Lowes) and Charlie (George Newbern).

When the situation appeared to be resolved, Mellie said her goodbyes to Rashad but not before asking Olivia to do something for her. It wasn’t revealed to the viewer what exactly she was asking but as Rashad and his niece were about to fly back to their country, the plane they were in blew up killing them both.

Also Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) told Mellie everything that Olivia had been doing in a bid to pull her back from the dark side. That backfired when Olivia manipulated Mellie and turned her against him.

The next episode of the season is Vampires and Bloodsuckers. The Gladiators come together to celebrate Quinn and Charlie’s big day, while Mellie deals with new crisis in the Middle East.
