Lennie James leaving The Walking Dead to join Fear the Walking Dead

Lennie James will be leaving The Walking Dead at the end of season 8 to join spin-off series Fear the Walking Dead for its fourth season.

The actor, who plays Morgan Jones, made the announcement during Talking Dead, The Walking Dead’s aftershow series. It’s unclear at the moment how James will be written out of The Walking Dead and if his character will make it out alive.

James made his first appearance in The Walking Dead during season 1 and returned in season 3. Since season 5, James has been a regular on the show.

In a statement The Walking Dead’s executive producer Scott Gimple said, ā€œEven though Morgan is going to be featured on Fear, he has a lot of story left on The Walking Dead. Morganā€™s arc in Season 8 positioned him for the story on Fear. It was also important to see Fearā€˜s world and characters through new yet familiar eyes.ā€

The confirmation that it’s Morgan who is crossing over to Fear the Walking Dead finally puts the speculation to rest. Many fans thought it was going to be Michael Cudlitz reprising his role as Abraham.

What do you think of the announcement? Are you excited to see Morgan in Fear the Walking Dead?
