Shane Richie has unveiled the lyric video for original song Shut Up (‘Cause All I Want You), taken from his forthcoming Country album A Country Soul.
Written with his son Jake Roche, the frontman of Rixton, the song is inspired by a real-life situation that occurred with his wife.

Talking about the meaning behind the song Richie says, “Collaborating with my son Jake and his Rixton bandmate Danny was a highlight of putting this album together. During the summer holidays, my wife Christie and the kids were away on holiday, so my son and his band were moving in to housesit and to write material for their forthcoming album.
It was around this time that I’d actually forgotten that it was my wedding anniversary. As a throwaway comment to Jake, I mentioned that I’d spoken to Christie and told her how sorry I was for forgetting our anniversary. And she said, ‘Shut up, all I want is you.’”
Jake thought that was a great title for a song. The rest of the lyrics came from an insecure bloke verging on a midlife crisis while feeling a little bit sorry for himself… But with a positive vibe! We worked on it for a couple of days and here’s the result. Hope you like it, X.”

“What I love about new country is that they all write from the heart,” says Shane. “They write stories. That’s kinda where my head was, with the songs we wrote and the songs I was covering. So, yeah, this is from the heart – and the heartland of new country.”
Richie will release A Country Soul on 10th November 2017.
