The X Factor 2017 week 1 top 5 performances part 2

Tonight the X Factor live shows continued with performances from the Groups and the Overs.  Judges and mentors, Nicole Scherzinger, Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh were joined by guest judge Alesha Dixon.

I recount my favourite performances of tonight’s episode.

5. Jack & Joel – New Rules by Dua Lipa

I adored Jack & Joel’s performance! These guys are so happy when they sing and it makes me happy too. New Rules suited the boys, who both sounded great tonight. The song was packed with positive energy.

What the judges said: Sharon said the boys made her smile and she was glad to see them back. Louis thought that they were good and that they didn’t know how good they really are.

4. Cutkelvins – What about Us by Pink

The Cutkelvins are made to perform and that became really obvious on tonight’s show. The trio pulled a great performance together and sounded good. I personally didn’t think this was their best performance on the competition so far but it was still a highlight on this evening’s episode.

What the judges said: Sharon said that it was really exciting and that the performance grabbed the audience. Louis said that he loved them from day one and that they had everything.

3. Kevin Devy White – Stay by Rhianna feat. Mikky Ekko

Kevin’s performance was vocally outstanding and really showed of the singer’s incredible range. I loved the emotion that came out pouring during his performance and thought that the song suited him beautifully.

What the judges said: Louis said that everything about the song was perfect and that he was on a different league all together. Sharon added that she was scared after seeing this performance as she thought she had a slam dunk.

2. Sean & Conor Price – Strong by London Grammar

Sean & Conor revamped a London Grammar song for their debut on the live shows and it paid off. The boys performance of the upbeat version made it feel like a brand new track, which was both catchy and fresh.

What the judges said: Sharon thought the boys harmonies were sweet and perfect but Louis did not like the song choice. Nicole thought the guys were naturals

1. Rak-Su – Mamacita

I have loved this band from the get go and thought they gave one of the most professional performances on the show tonight. The boys are great on stage, they can dance, they can sing and they can rap. It was sensational.

What the judges said: Sharon thought the boys nailed it and that they had great energy. Louis added that it was visually great and musically perfect. Alesha added that The X Factor had saved the best for last, Rak-Su.

The X Factor will return next Saturday night on ITV.
