EF’s top 10 acts to see at Lost Village Festival 2017

Lost Village Festival will open its doors to revellers tomorrow for only the third time. Lost Village is a totally immersive festival experience that sees revellers engulfed in a surreal forgotten world; an abandoned woodland village inhabited by all manner of unusual people.

The immersive festival has revealed details of its line-up and I’ll be there ready to find out why so many are raving about this relatively new summer event. I intend on enjoying as much music as possible and here are some of my must sees this year.

10. Ibido Sound Machine

The weird and wonderful Ibido Sound Machine are fronted by London-born Nigerian singer Eno Williams, Ibibio Sound Machine is a clash of African and electronic elements inspired in equal measure by the golden era of West-African funk & disco and modern post-punk & electro.

9. 2 Many Djs

For those arriving early on Thursday, whom have won tickets, Soulwax aka 2 Many Djs will be hosting an intimate 4-hour party, which is set to take place in a secret location within the forest of the Lost Village. This performance will be one of Soulwax’s most intimate gigs in years, all whilst submerged in the ever-stunning surroundings of the Lost Village. The event is in collaboration with Amazon Music.

8. Jackmaster

Jackmaster is renowned for his in-depth and diverse music taste and ability to mix a multitude of different genres. He is Scottish and the founder of various labels.

7. Reginald D Hunter

Reginald D Hunter frequently appears on TV panels such as Have I Got News For You, 8 Out of 10 Cats, QI and many more. His comedy style tends to be dark and favours the use of sarcasm and cynical rhetoric.

6. Max Cooper

Max Cooper is a UK dj, whom I caught playing at Print Works this year and was completely swept away by the high quality of track choice.

5. Loyle Carner

Loyle Carner has been shortlisted for a Mercury Award this year so there is a lot of hype around him and rightly so. His album, Yesterday’s Gone has received praised across the board and is filled with high quality hip hop.

4. Hot Chip (DJ set)

Can I just say, I love Hot Chip and you will most likely find me at the front row during this event. Hot Chip’s takeover is a new Lost Village event, where a renowned act takes over the decks and takes the crowd through a journey of music that has influenced their career.

What? This will be the first even take over at Lost Village

3. Nina Kraviz

Nina Kraviz is big in the DJ scene espeically in Germany where she is incredibly popular and plays in some of the biggest clubs around the globe. Her djing is quite diversified and can range from mellow/atmospheric electro to hard techno.

2. Russell Kane

Edinburgh Fringe festival award winner, Russell Kane will undoubtedly attract the crowds at the festival, especially those who fancy a break from music and want to laugh hysterically.

1. Moderat

Moderat are a super group composed of members of Apparat and Modeselektor. The joint venture started off as a fun side project but due to its popularity it became a hugely busy time for all the members and three albums down the line they have decided to call it a day. I have seen Moderat play live a few times and its always been great so I am sad to see them go but incredibly excited to see them live one last time. This is a show don’t want to miss!
