Get ready, Guardians! The Destiny 2 Early Access beta begins today at 6pm BST (10am PST), July 18th-20th, for PS4 players who have pre-ordered the game. It then opens up to Xbox One pre-orders from tomorrow at 6pm BST (10am PST), July 19th-20th.

Don’t worry if you haven’t been able to pre-order Destiny 2. An open beta for all players on PS4 and Xbox One takes place July 21st-23rd. The open beta will end at 5am BST, July 24th (9pm PST, July 23rd). PC players will get their own beta in August.

If you have access to a beta key then you need to redeem it on the Bungie website. This will require you to sign-in with a free Bungie account. Once redeemed you can link your PSN, Xbox Live or Blizzard account and choose the platform you want to play on.

The beta can be preloaded ahead of the launch. This is recommended as it’s around 15GB in size. Preloading will allow you to jump straight in once it goes live.

While you’re waiting for the beta to launch it’s worth checking out the video below. It was created by popular YouTuber, Arekkz, in collaboration with Activision. The video takes you through what to expect from the Destiny 2 beta.

New PvP Maps

  • Midtown is set within a curiously abandoned sector of the last safe city on Earth. Lord Shaxx has selected it as a training ground for dangerous live fire exercises using captured Cabal ordinance.
  • Endless Vale takes place on the new world, Nessus, a planetoid featuring soaring vistas, beautiful alien vegetation, and the hallmarks of the Vex effort to transform the planet into one of their machine worlds.

The Crucible – Competitive Multiplayer

Face-off against real players in 4v4 matches.

  • Countdown (on Midtown) – A new competitive mode where players spawn on either Offense or Defense, and when the round ends you swap sides and roles. The goal is to plant a bomb at the enemy base, and then defend it until it explodes. Each round is worth one point. First team to six wins. To revive a teammate, you must use a revive token. Power weapon ammo is only granted to the one player who pulls it. Working as a team is the key to victory.
  • Control (on Endless Vale) – A newly refined take on the competitive mode Control, where players must capture and defend zones to earn points while defeating their opponents to gain additional points. If all zones are captured, players will receive a power play to gain additional points per kill.

The Farm – Social Space

The new player hub to replace The Tower from the first game. The Farm will be available for a single hour at 6pm BST on July 23rd. This is to stress test the servers.
