If you want to avoid spoilers for Prison Break season 5, we suggest you stop reading now. If you don’t mind then please keep reading for a recap of episode 8 and a preview of episode 9.

The episode opened up with Michael, Linc (Dominic Purcell), Sucre (Amaury Nolasco) and Whip (Augustus Prew) in a life raft somewhere in the Mediterranean. They were surrounded by wreckage from the ship that was destroyed at the end of last episode. Whip spotted a patrol boat and signalled for help. They were picked up and taken to Marseilles.

Michael had a flashback to six years earlier when Jacob/Poseidon (Mark Feuerstein) told him he owned him and that he knew everything about him. He questioned Michael about why he had been visiting the Zoo so often, Michael said he was planning the next prison break. Jacob noticed that Michael had some new tattoos.

They went to a building where they were scanned with facial recognition to gain entry. It was a top secret office that Jacob used. Michael introduced Jacob to Whip and wanted him in on the next mission. Michael said Whip would help speed things up. Jacob agreed.

After arriving in Marseille, Sucre and Whip were desperate to get food. Michael checked his text messages and had one from Sara. He replied but realised he was probably talking to Jacob when he called his son Mike Jr. He didn’t let on and Jacob was quietly confident he would soon have him. It was revealed that Jacob had Sara prisoner.

Mike asked Jacob where his mother was, he said she was at work. He showed Jacob a picture of a pirate ship he was drawing. Jacob picked fault with the layout of the ship. Mike revealed that the drawing contained a secret code, it was a treasure map for a friend. Guess he takes after his father.

After the text messages, Michael became more worried about Sara and his son. He wanted to get back to them as soon as possible. Linc said he might have a way and then explained his own past seven years. He’d been doing illegal jobs for Luca, the son of Abruzzi, to make quick cash. For not finishing one job he owed $100,000 and wondered if they could use that to their advantage to get back to the US fast.

Linc made a call pretending to offer the $100,000 in return for places on a plane carrying the next shipment. While grabbing food, Whip and Sucre noticed they were all over the news and fled to warn Michael and Linc.

Jacob met with A&W (Marina Benedict) and Van Gogh (Steve Mouzakis) to discuss the situation with Michael. He knew they survived the missile strike and that he would be coming back to the US. He offered himself up as bait to take Michael down. He brought in a tech guy to help and they analyzed his Skype call and tattoos.

Michael and the gang took an overnight coach to Lyon to get to the plane. While the others slept, Michael plotted his next moves. First a letter to T-Bag (Robert Knepper) asking for help which involved him taking a life. Next a message to C-Note (Rockmond Dunbar) to call a payphone in France.

Michael sent Whip to Chicago. Sucre took a plane to New York and turned on Michael’s phone as he left the plane, leaving it on his seat. A&W and Van Gogh were tracking the phone and went to take out Michael but he wasn’t there. Michael and Linc had taken a plane carrying drugs to Luca.

Once on the ground, Luca wanted Linc to pay the $100,000 but he told him that he didn’t have it. Michael said he and Linc needed to walk free with the debt forgiven. Outside he had C-Note outside posing as a DEA informant. When Michael gave the signal he pretended to place a call and a couple of Black SUV’s came racing to the building. The drug gang fled and Michael’s plan had worked.

Driving one of the SUV’s was Sheba (Inbar Lavi). After the gang had gone, C-Note offered to help Michael with Jacob. Michael refused saying that Jacob knew his face. Sheba offered her help instead as she wouldn’t be on Jacob’s radar. They said goodbye to C-Note and Michael said he owed him.

Jacob had a quick meeting at home with A&W and Van Gogh. After the meeting, Van Gogh wasn’t happy with the situation and said to A&W that he was done with 21 Void after this job. She told him there was no leaving 21 Void. He said he could do whatever he wanted.

Luca found out that the DEA raid was staged by Michael and his friends. He vowed to kill Linc for what he had done. He sent his men out to look for him.

In Chicago, Whip took a taxi. He asked to be taken to some co-ordinates. The driver popped them in his sat nav but refused. The co-ordinates were in the middle of Lake Michigan.

Back in New York, Michael, Linc and Sheba arrived at Jacob’s house. It was night and it looked like no one was home. Sheba gave Linc a gun and asked him to be careful. Michael noticed all his origami bird messages to Sara that he sent from prison in the drain outside. Jacob has intercepted them all without Sara knowing.

Michael and Licn made their way into the house. As they crept around, Michael spotted drawings done by his son. He then found family photos of Jacob with Sara and Mike. The house appeared to be empty. Michael sent a text message to Sara, knowing Jacob would intercept it, and set up a meeting at a Steak House.

Van Gogh was outside and intercepted a car that Michael had sent for Sara and Mike. Van Gogh was in communication with Jacob who had his loudly say he was on his way back. Linc was sat nearby and heard the message. He followed Van Gogh while Jacob watched from distance. Jacob sent A&W after Linc but he managed to lose her.

She went back to Jacob who was furious and fled. Michael was watching from above and directed Linc after Jacob. Jacob pulled a gun on the car he felt was tailing him and was surprised when Linc wasn’t inside. He was hiding while Sheba drove.

They followed the car and found blood and scratch marks inside the boot. Michael presume it was from Sara. He found a picture from Mike which was another coded message. He realised the picture was pointing them to a location near Long Lake. While they were planning their next moves, Linc spotted one of Luca’s guys watching them. Linc told Sheba to stay behind and kissed her before they left.

Back in Chicago, Whip had made his way to Lake Michigan. He went to rent a boat to take out on the lake. At the co-ordinates he found a buoy with a rope attached. He pulled up the rope and found a jar attached which appeared to be full of blood.

Meanwhile, T-Bag was carrying out the instructions sent by Michael. He recorded a voice message on his phone about what he was about to do. He then got out and confronted Whip. In seconds the pair had each other by the throat before T-Bag revealed to Whip that he was his father!

At the lake house, Mike complained about wanting to go home and asked about his mother. Jacob assured him everything was going to be fine.

Later, Michael and Linc arrived at the lake house. Linc kept watch while Michael went to look. Inside he could see his son and he thought Sara too but felt something was wrong. A car approached and Linc thought it was Jacob but it was Luca. He pulled up alongside Linc and fired several bullets at him, leaving him injured.

Michael went inside the house and met Mike. He knew straight away that he was his father. He thanked him for the map but Mike said he didn’t make one. Michael realised that Jacob must have made it. Michael asked about Sara and Mike said they needed to run.

The woman in the next room stood up and it wasn’t Sara. It was A&W dressed up to look like her. She walked in and pulled out a gun as Michael grabbed Mike. Blood spattered on the inside of the house as a gun shot rang out. We’ll have to wait for the final episode to see who was shot.
