On the latest episode of Elementary, Sherlock (Jonny Lee Miller) and Watson (Lucy Liu) investigated a murder linked to a reality TV show.
At the start of the episode, a woman was sneaking around a warehouse with a pistol drawn. She came across a man and shot him several times and it was revealed that the pistol was a paintball gun. The man turned around and killed her with a shotgun.
Sherlock, Watson and Detective Bell (Jon Michael Hill) were called to the scene. Sherlock immediately spotted some paint from the paintballs and noted it was a special type that wouldn’t wash off easily. He also worked out that the woman had been wearing a body cam that was now missing.
The woman was a police chief who was supposed to be on holiday. They discovered that she was taking part in a reality TV show called Moving Targets to try and win $1,000,000. The aim was to take out all the other contestants by shooting them with paintballs. The footage for the show was filmed exclusively via the body cams.
The evidence led them to find a scheme that was bribing police departments to buy their weapons. After a few wrong suspects they discovered that the TV show producer was an ex-Texas Ranger.
They tricked him into thinking that they thought one of the other contestants was the suspect. The trick worked and they were able to catch the producer trying to plant the gun he used on the other contestant.
Elsewhere in the episode, Watson was contacted by Shinwell (Nelsan Ellis) which she tried to keep secret from Sherlock. He wanted her help in taking out someone above him in SBK. He also gave her a signed confession for killing Jameel and said he would turn himself in once SBK were dismantled.
She agreed and met with a detective on the SBK case to have him arrest the guy mentioned by Shinwell. Sherlock was upset at Watson going behind his back and telling him lies. He warned her to be careful because he felt that she would end up hurt.
At the end of the episode, Watson had a message to go to Shinwell immediately. She rushed to his apartment and found him shot dead on the floor.
The next episode is Scrambled. Holmes and Watson investigate a murder that puts them in the crosshairs of one of New York’s deadliest gangs.
