La La Land leads the Oscar nominations for the 89th Academy Awards

La La Land gets a record-equalling 14 Oscar nominations as the 89th Academy Awards contenders now get ready for battle.

After sweeping the boards at the Golden Globes La La Land looks set to do the same at the 2017 EE British Academy Film Awards and now the Oscars.

With a staggering 14 nominations, Damien Chazelle’s glorious romantic musical starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone looks set to win big yet again.

Amongst the categories, La La Land is nominated for Best Film, Original Score, Original Song, Cinematography, Editing, Production Design and Costume Design. Damien Chazelle is nominated for both Director and Original Screenplay and Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone for Leading Actor and Leading Actress.

Elsewhere, Manchester by the Sea, Arrival, Nocturnal Animals, Hacksaw Ridge, Lion, Moonlight and Florence Foster Jenkins have all been nominated, along with Hell or High Water, Fences, Hidden Figures and Captain Fantastic.

There are also some surprise additions to the Oscar list, including Allied, Passengers and Suicide Squad.

The winners will be announced at the Oscars ceremony in Los Angeles on 22nd February.
