Top 5 Strictly Come Dancing 2016 week 8 dances

Strictly Come Dancing 2016 ramped up the entertainment factor during last night’s live show.

With only a week to go until 7 couples make it through to Blackpool, the couples really pulled it out of the bag to secure their place in the competition.

I’ve compiled my list of the Top 5 performances that I loved. As always I don’t necessarily take the judges’ scores and comments into account.

Find out who made the cut…

5. Claudia Fragapane and AJ Pritchard – Viennese Waltz

I’m still waiting for Claudia to wow. At the moment she does a great job every week but she’s not had that one electric performance that makes her a serious contender. AJ choreographed a gorgeous routine and Claudia danced it well.

4. Ore Oduba and Joanne Clifton – Rumba

Ore came back fighting this week and performed an emotive and romantic Rumba. He should be safe after last night’s performance and he deserves to make it through to the final of the competition.

3. Louise Redknapp and Kevin Clifton – American Smooth Foxtrot

Louise had another big moment last night. Since Len told her she was in danger of plateauing a few weeks back, Louise has seriously upped her game and she was stunning last night. It was enjoyable to see her fun and cheeky side for once.

2. Danny Mac and Oti Mabuse – Argentine Tango

Danny also came back fighting last night after a rare bad week. He was criticised for attacking the dance too aggressively but for me that’s what made it so good. He won’t be going any where after this performance.

1. Ed Balls and Katya Jones – Salsa

Without a doubt the most entertaining moment of the night came when Ed performed his Gangnam Style themed Salsa. Nothing could have prepared me for the sheer hilarity of the dance. Ed deserved more credit for the lifts he achieved and for the effort he put into the performance.
