Sir Terry Wogan will be commemorated with new collection A Celebration of Music on 18th November 2016.

The 2CD collection features tracks enjoyed and played by Sir Terry over his time as a radio broadcaster. It will also feature a number of performances recorded specially for Weekend Wogan, his Sunday morning show on BBC Radio 2.

The album features artists including Eva Cassidy, Katie Melua, Michael Bublé, Dolly Parton, Take That and Sir Terry’s own hit single The Floral Dance.

Bob Shennan, Controller of Radio 2, who has written the album’s sleeve notes comments: “This album is a selection of some of Terry’s favourite music and I hope you enjoy this musical journey, which should bring back happy memories of listening and watching our Terry over the years. “

Ste Softley, Weekend Wogan producer, adds: “Over the years I shared many happy memories with Terry, and this album is the soundtrack to all of them. For each song I can picture Terry’s face lighting up with enthusiasm, or hear his trademark mischievous ad-libs all over it, or see him simply sit back in his chair, lose himself in the music and love the moment. It’s easy to hear Terry’s voice in between – and on top of – every single one of these songs, hand-picked songs which were special to my friend, our friend, Terry. So sit back, lose yourself in the music, and love the moment.”

The album will support BBC Children In Need with 50% of profits from the sale of the record going to the charity, with a guaranteed donation of at least £25,000.
