Mophie Juice Pack Air review

When it comes to the market leader for smart phone battery cases, Mophie is far and away the most well-known. The tech company has cornered the market and despite a higher price point than its competitors, Mophie is the most popular choice among consumers. In part thatā€™s to do with the fact that Mophie delivers on its promises and itā€™s not the kind of company that sells you on half-truths. Having previously had a Mophie battery case for the iPhone 5S, I tested the newer Mophie Juice Pack Air designed specifically for the iPhone 6.

Available in a variety of colours, the Mophie Juice Pack Air features 2,750mAH battery that ensures you get a full charge for your phone when the natural battery life is almost drained. The charging is pretty speedy and the results impressive, making it ideal for anyone who uses their phone heavily for business or personal use.

The case, as with previous Mophie products, is charged by plugging it into a USB port either on your laptop or via a suitable adaptor plug. The simple press of the button on the back of the case activates the four lights to let you know how much charge the case has. It takes around an hour to get a full charge for the case and most of the time I plugged it in while I was doing other stuff.

Unlike old models of the Mophie battery case, the Juice Pack Air clips off at the top rather than the bottom. To be honest it makes no difference one way or another but itā€™s a difference that should be noted when comparing it to previous models.

The design of the case is appealing. It doesnā€™t add too much bulk or weight to your phone and itā€™s a snug fit that offers added protection. iPhones can get easily scuffed if theyā€™re thrown in your pocket so the case makes sure that the back and sides is well protected.

The headphone port is featured at the bottom of the case and youā€™ll need an adapter to plug in your headphones while the case is in use. This packaged with the Juice Pack Air and serves its purpose well. I have found that the connectivity of the adapter can easily break if you use it heavily so where possible try to charge your case when you donā€™t need to plug your headphones in.

If youā€™re looking for a battery case that delivers a decent recharge and protects your phone, then you wonā€™t find better than Mophie. For my money itā€™s worth paying the extra as Mophie cases last and the Juice Pack Air is no exception. The case is well-designed, durable and offers the best charging experience for your phone on the go that Iā€™ve ever seen.
