Couples confirmed for Strictly Come Dancing 2016

Strictly Come Dancing kicked off its 2016 series tonight as the 15 celebrities were paired with their professional partners.

Over the course of the launch show, Tess Daly revealed the professional partners for the celebrity contestants. The reveals were spread across the show keeping the suspense and tension high, and us at home guessing!

The professional dancers performed a group number, which also served as an introduction to the 6 new pros – Neil & Katya Jones, Oksana Platero, Gorka Marquez, AJ Pritchard and Chloe Hewitt.

During the show Rebecca Ferguson stopped by to sing her new single Bones and Olly Murs performed his latest single You Don’t Know Love. Jay McGuiness, who won the 2015 series, returned to perform his showstopping Jive with Aliona Vilani.

Once all of the couples were announced, the celebs took to the floor with the pros for a group number and it was the first chance we had to see who may be a serious contender for the Glitterball Trophy.

The couples for the 2016 series are:

Will Young and Karen Clifton

Strictly Come Dancing 2016 continues on Friday 23rd September and Saturday 24th September when the celebrities take to the ballroom for the first live shows of the series.
