Will Young will be putting his microphone down to take part in the new series of Strictly Come Dancing.
Will is the second celebrity confirmed for the 2016 series following the announcement that former MP Ed Balls will be competing on the show. The official Strictly Twitter and Facebook accounts revealed the news this afternoon.
āAs a fan of Strictly for years, I have always imagined myself on the show, but the timing has not been right… until now! Music is my passion and the dancing I have done has always been with a microphone in hand. Now there will be no microphone or band, just me, my partner and the dance floor. Strictly is a show with fantastic live music and has an ethos of positivity and growth. I practice these two things every day, and I will try my hardest to be the best dancer possible.ā said Will.
Will won the first series of Pop Idol in 2002 and has sold millions of records over the course of his career so far. He’s also found success as an actor with a big screen role in Mrs Henderson Presents and on stage as part of Rufus Norris’ production of Cabaret.
The third confirmed contestant for Strictly Come Dancing 2016 will be revealed live on The Radio 1 Breakfast Show with Nick Grimshaw on Wednesday 10th August.
