First teaser debuts for Star Trek: Discovery

Star Trek: Discovery may be shrouded in secrecy at the moment but that didn’t stop a teaser trailer being released during San Diego Comic Con.

The 70 second teaser gives fans their first look at the USS Discovery and it’s safe to say it doesn’t disappoint. Modelled on an unused 1970s USS Enterprise design, the ship looks familiar and stunning.

Star Trek: Discovery is created by Bryan Fuller and Alex Kurtzman, and will feature new characters unrelated to the current Star Trek movies. No news has been announced about casting for the show yet.

The series will air on CBS All Access in the US and in the UK it will debut on Netflix. Fans can expect the series to premiere in January 2017.

It will be the first new Star Trek series since Star Trek: Enterprise finished in 2005.
