Empire renewed for season 3

In news that should come as no surprise to anyone, Empire has been renewed for a third season.

The music drama has pulled in huge ratings over its first two seasons, with its second season currently on a winter break. Despite a fall in ratings between seasons one and two, Empire continues to be one of the best-rated shows on TV.

Starring Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson, Empire tells the story of the Lyon family and the family dynasty Empire Records. The second season has seen the family divided with Lucious (Howard) and Cookie (Henson) running rival record labels. The season 2 winter finale saw a pregnant Rhonda (Kaitlin Doubleday) get pushed down the stairs, presumably by Anika (Grace Gealey)?

When the show returns in March in the US, and shortly after in the UK, it will feature guest appearances from big name stars including Mariah Carey and Tyrese Gibson.
