The spotlight shines on the last of the Satellite Stage acts for this year’s C2C: Country To Country Festival which takes place this weekend in London at The O2 Arena.

Four acts will perform acoustic sets on the newly erected Satellite Stage at the back of the arena. The performances will take place between the main act sets and will include Sam Hunt, Sam Palladio and The Shires.

The fourth and final act performing on the stage is homegrown country duo, and sisters, Ward Thomas. 20 year-old twin sisters Catherine and Lizzy Ward Thomas have been working their way to stardom picking up critical-acclaim along the way with the release of their debut album From Where We Stand.

The sisters were born in London but grew up in Hampshire. They made their first recordings in Nashville back in 2012 with fellow Brit Matt Greaves and Ann Bailey originally from Michigan but now settled in the UK. The sisters entered into music after growing up with music all around them and discovering that their voices worked well together.

“We started doing duets together and it gradually grew and the more we sang together, the more we wanted to do it,” Lizzy says.

“We started harmonising,” adds Catherine, “even now we’ll listen to a song and we’ll automatically harmonise it together, we’re in the car and we’ll start harmonising instead of singing along.”

Their song Footnotes, one of the first songs that they’d written, led them to Nashville with the rough demo reaching the ears of producer and session drummer Bobby Blazier. That was the start of their rise to prominence as they worked on their album From Where We Stand and began picking up support from BBC Radio 2.

The sisters released their new single Town Called Ugley this week ahead of their UK tour which kicks off in Bristol next week. This weekend they will perform four times at C2C, once on the Satellite Stage and the other times around the festival’s different stages.

Ward Thomas will perform at C2C: Country To Country 2015 on the Satellite Stage at London’s O2 Arena on Sunday 8th March 2015. For more information and tickets head over to Watch the video for Ward Thomas’ Town Called Ugley below:
