Strictly Come Dancing 2014 grand-final part 2 recap

Strictly Come Dancing 2014 kicked off it’s incredible final earlier this evening as the four remaining couples danced to try and get their hands on the Glitterball Trophy.

After dancing the judges’ choice and their showdance, the couples were at the mercy of the public who had full control to take their favourites to victory. Of course not all of the couples can progress to the top 3 and one couple sadly left at the beginning of the show.

Tess Daly delivered the results to the finalist and announced that Mark Wright and Karen Hauer would be leaving the competition.

That meant it was between Caroline Flack, Simon Webbe and Frankie Bridge to battle it out for the trophy. The last round of dances was the favourite routine from the series. Keep reading to find out how they got on…

Frankie and Kevin have had a fantastic journey during this series of Strictly. Sailing through to the Top 3 they opened the third round of dancing. This was their favourite dance of the series and they chose to perform the Paso Doble.

The dance: With no Donny 10 to help them tonight, we thought that Frankie & Kevin did an even better dance this time round. Frankie has grown so much in confidence and she smashed it on that floor tonight.

The comments: Len said that great dancing requires great music and thanked the band before telling Frankie it was ‘West Side Glory’. Bruno told Frankie well done. Craig said it was ‘strong, feisty and had a good sense of danger’. Darcey said Frankie’s attitude was perfect tonight.

The score: 39 out of 40

Caroline Flack had a fantastic first two rounds scoring a perfect 80. In her intro VT a tearful Caroline credited Pasha with her incredible journey. There’s no denying she’s been one of the brightest stars of this year’s series. For their final dance they chose to perform the Charleston.

The dance: We loved that routine the first time round and we loved it even more tonight. It’s such a fun routine and Caroline clearly had the time of her life. We’re going to miss her and Pasha every week!

The comments: Bruno said the performance was like being in a luxury suite of the Orient Express. Craig said that his heart has melted and told Caroline she is absolutely phenomenal. Darcey said she’s devastated that it’s the last time she’ll see them dance and told Caroline it’s the best Charleston of the series. Len said that Caroline was great.

The score: 40 out of 40

Closing out the final round was Simon & Kristina. During his VT Simon admitted that his Strictly journey was a rollercoaster and explained that he never thought he’d get to the final. He also admitted that he’s struggled with confidence over recent years and he feels he lost himself. For his final dance tonight Simon danced the Argentine Tango.

The dance: What a way to end the third and final round. That is without a doubt one of Simon’s best moments and he is so powerful and strong during the Argentine Tango. Kristina almost burst into tears at the end and struggled to compose herself.

The comments: Craig said that Simon’s journey is at its beginning and told him he will go on to somewhere brilliant commending his partnership with Kristina. Darcey said ‘thank you so much for performing that again’ and mentioned his connection and intensity. Len said Simon has climbed mountains this series and told him he could have done no more than he did tonight. Bruno said that Simon is the boss and told him he dominated the dance like a Grand Master.

The score: 40 out of 40

The leaderboard for round 3 was:

Caroline Flack & Pasha Kovalev – 40
Simon Webbe & Kristina Rihanoff – 40
Frankie Bridge & Kevin Clifton – 39

The overall leaderboard for the night was:

Following the third round of dancing Take That performed a medley of their greatest hits. The cast of 2014 shared their memories of the show and returned for one last group dance.

After that it was back down to business to crown this year’s winner. And the winners are…Caroline Flack and Pasha Kovalev!

That’s all for this year folks. We’ll be back on Christmas Day and then we’ll see you next year for the new series!
