Gamers love Christmas because its a perfect time to grab some new games.

Below you’ll find our top picks for PS4 gamers. Stay tuned to EF for games gift guides for other consoles.

Alien: Isolation

After the dreadful Aliens Colonial Marines we were starting to wonder if we’d ever get another decent Aliens game. Thankfully The Creative Assembly and SEGA stepped up to the mark with this entry into the survival horror genre. Set 15 years after the events of Alien, players stepped into the shoes of Ripley’s daughter Ellen. Essential for fans of the Alien films.

Assassin’s Creed Unity

This year Ubisoft have treated fans to two new Assassin’s Creed games. PS4 owners will want to pick up Assassin’s Creed Unity which is set in Paris during the French Revolution. Ubisoft may still be fixing some bugs with the game but it’s easily the best looking game in the series so far. There’s also four-player online co-op.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

With an extra year in development and a future setting this year’s Call of Duty from Sledgehammer Games has given the series a new lease of life. There’s a brilliant single-player campaign featuring Kevin Spacey and a fresh take on the multiplayer game. This will keep First-Person Shooter fans busy well into 2015.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare - Hoverbike

Bungie selling the rights to their beloved Halo franchise came as a big surprise but the ambition of their next title was not.
