Chart-topping X Factor star Jahmene Douglas has made his return to Asda by providing the soundtrack to the company’s Christmas TV advert.
Jahmene previously worked at the Swindon Haydon Superstore and he’s recorded a cover of the Christmas classic When You’re Smiling which was made famous by Louis Armstrong in 1929. The song features in the new The Story of Christmas Smiles advert which brings to life nine familiar Christmas situations involving family and friends.
The advert aired tonight for the first time during Emmerdale.
Talking about his involvement Jahmene said, “I’m really excited to be involved in this magical ad and honoured to be covering this legendary track that has always personally inspired me to smile! It’s always the little things that make you smile at Christmas and this ad is a wonderful celebration of just that.”
Steve Smith, Chief Customer Officer at Asda said, “We’re really proud of our Christmas brand campaign this year. It captures those personal touches and thoughtful gestures that put a smile on people’s faces at Christmas. We know our customers want to go the extra mile to make their festivities special, and we want to remind them that we have put the thought and imagination into a range of fantastic food, wine, gifts and decorations so all they need to focus on is having fun together.
It seemed like the icing on the Christmas cake to invite Jahméne to record the soundtrack and he’s done a superb job of reworking When You’re Smiling.
“Christmas is a time to concentrate on celebrating and having fun with friends and family and laughing. We wish all our customers a wonderful Christmas, full of smiles!”
Jahmene is set to release his second album in January 2015.
