It’s nearly panto time at Bromley!

On Friday 19th September the cast of Sleeping Beauty arrived at The Warren in Hayes to official launch the pantomime season! Also in attendance were the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Bromley, the official sponsors; Ashgrove School, The Newshopper and Intu Bromley.

Marc Baylis from ITV’s Coronation Street will star in Churchill Theatre Bromley’s dazzling pantomime Sleeping Beauty from Friday 28 November to Sunday 4 January. The Corrie killer will take on the role of The Prince.

Marc can currently be seen as series regular Rob Donavan in ITV’s Coronation Street, for which he was recently nominated as ‘Best Newcomer’ at both The National Television Awards and the Inside Soap Awards. His numerous other television credits also include: Misfits, Sirens, Law and Order, The Bill, Eastenders, Doctors, My Uncle Silas, Battlefields, and Hollyoaks.

Joining Marc as the Good Fairy is 80’s pop icon Sonia. Sonia released a number of hits during the 80’s and 90’s but is most famous for her number 1 hit You’ll Never Stop Me Loving You and representing the UK in the 1993 Eurovision Song Contest where she came second. She has also appeared as Bunty Savage, Lily Savage’s daughter and in the reality TV show Reborn In The USA.

Taking on the role of Nurse Nelly is the legend of radio, screen and stage, Bobby Crush. Bobby first came into the public eye after six winning appearances on Opportunity Knocks in the 70’s. Since then he has had numerous stage roles and his own TV show.

Zoe Birkett will play the role of Carabosse (Bad Fairy). Zoe first appeared on our screens in 2002 on Pop Idol. She has then appeared in West End Shows such as Priscilla Queen Of The Desert original cast alongside Jason Donovan and Thriller Live. She is most recently know for appearing as a contestant on Channel 5’s Big Brother.

A face the children will know is Jamie Rickers who is playing Silly Billy. Jamie is a familiar face on CiTV and Nickelodeon, with hosting Toonattik and Jamie and Anna’s U-Pick Summer (both co-hosted by Anna Williamson, who was with us as Cinderella last year!)

Bruce Montague (Butterflies, New Tricks) will play the King and the part of Sleeping Beauty will be played by Musical Theatre star Sophia Thierens.

After the successful run of Cinderella (2013/2014’s panto), UK Productions returns with another highly anticipated and magical traditional pantomime. With spectacular sets and costumes, Sleeping Beauty is fantastic seasonal fun for everyone aged 3 to 103!

Jamie Leadbeatter, Marketing Manager of Churchill Theatre who hosted the event said “Today was a huge success! We have a fantastic line up this year, Bromley is in for a real treat this Christmas”.
