EastEnders bad boy and womanizer Max Branning wouldn’t be seen dead on a dancefloor but Jake Wood who plays him is about to don sequins and fake tan to compete in Strictly Come Dancing.
‘It’s something that’s completely out of my comfort zone and I like a challenge.,’ Jake says talking about why he’s joining the show. ‘It’s such a great Saturday night show and my family always sits down and watches it together so I’m really happy to be involved and I think my kids will really enjoy watching me take part.’
Has he done any dancing before? ‘None professionally, no. I tend not to even dance at a party but I do sometimes dance at home when I’m mucking about with the kids.’
Jake is so ready for Strictly Come Dancing that he isn’t even worried about the sequins and fake tan. ‘Bring it on! No, seriously I’m up for it all. I’ve signed up now and it’s part and parcel of the show, isn’t it? Yeah, bring it on!’
Strictly Come Dancing returns at 8pm Sunday on BBC One. Watch Jake's launch interview below:
