Taylor Swift reveals Shake It Off & new album 1989

New single out now with album to follow in October.

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift has announced the release of her new album 1989 on 27th October 2014.

The country/pop singer made the announcement as she released her brand new single Shake It Off to iTunes globally over night. Swift also released the tongue-in-cheek video for the track which features her dancing a variety of styles.

Speaking about Shake It Off, Swift says, “Over the last few years I’ve learned a very important lesson. We cannot control what people say about us but we can control how we react to it. We can let it get to us, make us bitter, even drive us insane or we can shake it off.”

1989 will be released as standard, deluxe and digital editions. The album is Swift’s first proper foray into pop music.

Talking about the record Swift says, “I spent two years making 1989. Two years gives you enough time to grow and change and let things inspire you. I was listening to a lot of late 80’s pop music and how bold those songs were and how that time period was a time of limitless possibilities. In thinking about that, this album is a rebirth for me. This is my very first documented, official pop album. 1989 is the most sonically cohesive album I have ever made and my favourite album I have ever made.”
