Hollywood actor Robin Williams has died, aged 63. Details are sketchy at the moment but it appears that he committed suicide and was found at his home in California a short time ago.
The actor had battled with alcoholism and depression in the past but it is unknown what the cause of death is at this time.
Williams had an acting resume of consummate strength with a diverse career on film and TV that delighted millions.
His role as Mork in Happy Days spun into a popular TV series in it’s own right, Mork & Mindy and this propelled Williams onto super-stardom. Mrs Doubtfire, Aladdin, Jumanji, The Birdcage, Night at the Museum, Popeye and Patch Adams are just some of the comedy gems he starred in.
He was primarily known for comedy but it was his dramatic work that really made him such a versatile actor. Awakenings, Good Morning Vietnam, Dead Poets Society, Good Will Hunting and One Hour Photo are just some of the milestone roles he tackled.
Our condolences go out to his friends and family at this very sad time.
