31-year-old Claire was the first person to hang up her apron and leave The Great British Bake Off during tonight’s series opener.
Over the course of the three challenges Claire struggled and her Showstopper turned out to be a bit of a mess. Unfortunately her baking didn’t match her warm personality and she was highlighted by Paul and Mary, along with Jordan and Iain, as one of the weaker bakers in the competition.
In contrast 60-year-old Nancy was crowned the Star Baker and narrowly beat 17-year-old Martha and 38-year-old Richard to the title.
Tonight’s show saw the bakers making swiss rolls, cherry cakes and miniature classic sponge cakes.
Tune in next Wednesday at 8pm to find out who will leave the competition next.
