We’re back for more blind auditions as the competitive coaches continue to build their teams of 12 super singers. Starting this week’s show is Welsh Andy. We learn that Andy is an Estate Agent and a bit of a ladies man. Andy is singing ‘Dance with me tonight’ by Olly Murs and it’s full of energy but we are not sure that his voice is particularly special. When Sir Tom hears that Andy is from North Wales he punches himself. Will said ‘he didn’t kill it’ via a possum analogy and Kylie encourages him with some estate agent humour. Tom, feeling guilty, hints that he might buy a house from Andy. Now there’s an interesting tv talent show concept – who can sell a house to a celeb…
Now Marvin introduces us to 19 year old Iesher, who works in a cinema. Iesher powers in to her rendition of ‘Who’s loving you’ and Will turns really fast! By the end of a really powerful performance all four coaches have thrown their hats into the ring for Iesher. Tom is first to bid for Iesher, quickly followed by Ricky who says ‘you probably will win this’. Kylie says she sounds like she can do anything and compares her to Whitney. Will says he has a cousin called Iesher and he wants to go through this journey together. Will wins Iesher for his team and we look forward to seeing her in the battle round.
45 year old tattoo artist Paul now. Paul surprises us with a big band take on ‘Jump’ by Van Halen. The coaches encourage Tom to turn but he refrains and Paul doesn’t make it through to the next round. Paul tells Ricky he is a tattoo artist by day and a swing singing superhero by night. Will says it’s cool that he took something and transformed it ‘like Optimus Prime.’
On to two ladies with some pop royalty relatives. Vicky from Bolton sings first after revealing that her brother is Danny from McFly. Vicky sings ‘Bed of roses’ and gets a last second seal of approval from Kylie and Tom. Vicky opts to join Team Tom. Georgia from Huddersfield is next and she is Adele’s cousin. Adele! She has to be good! Georgia is singing ‘Hallejullah I love him so.’ It’s a quirky choice and Georgia has a very strong voice. Only Tom turns so both of the ladies join Team Tom, taking his all-female team to 4 so far. Then we get a quick glimpse of Celestine, who is added to Tom’s roster.
Si Genero now, he treats us to a very, ermm, interesting ditty about pigeons. Si, complete with his harmonica takes to the stage for ‘Down Under’ and soon gets the crowd up on their feet. Si is rather energetic and although he can sing he also runs around a lot and does a little bit of beat boxing. Ricky advises him to ‘hold it back a little’ and says he liked it but not enough to turn around. Si seems happy anyway. Will advises against beat boxing on The Voice due to all the ‘spit on the mic.’ Oh Will, cleanliness and comedy all rolled into one, what would we do without you.
After Si finally leaves a stage we get an insight into Ricky and what he is looking for from the contestants. We see that Ricky is a hard man to impress and he isn’t just looking for a team of guitar playing rock singers. Like Will, we are really sad that the rugged Northern Irish man singing the Muse song didn’t make it on to Team Wilson. After this big build-up we meet trainee solicitor Myles, who hasn’t sung in public before! Myles sings ‘High Hopes’ and there we go – Ricky finally hears what he has been waiting for. Tom also wants Myles on his team but Myles opts to join Team Ricky.
Last up tonight is 30 year old Leverne, who used to be in a girl group in the past but has been focussing on being a mum to her four young sons of late. Laverne sings a lovely melodic version of Ellie Goulding’s ‘Explosions’ and for the first time tonight all four coaches push their buttons and battle for Leverne. All the coaches describe Leverne’s voice as ‘pure’ and Will thinks she sang like she fell from the sky. Leverne opts to join Team Tom too, adding some real strength to his all-female team.
