Channel 5 has picked up Helix, a new thriller from Sony Pictures Television.
Created by Ronald D. Moore (Battlestar Galactica), the show is about a team of scientists from the Center for Disease Control who travel to high-tech research facility Arctic BioSystems to investigate a possible disease outbreak.
Billy Campbell (The Rocketeer, Bram Stoker’s Dracula) leads the cast with Hiroyuki Sanada (Lost), Jordan Hayes (Nikita) and Neil Napier (White House Down). Helix also stars Kyra Zagorsky, Mark Ghanime, Meegwun Fairbrother and Catherine Lemieux.
Katie Keenan, Head of Acquisitions at Channel 5 commented: āWeāre thrilled to have acquired hotly anticipated drama, Helix from Sony Pictures Television. Our viewers are in for a truly suspenseful and thrilling ride.ā
Kylie Munnich, SVP Distribution, UK, Ireland and Africa, SPT, added: āFans want access to the latest US hits as soon as possible so weāre very glad to offer this UK window so close to the global premiere. Ron Moore needs no introduction to sci fi fans and weāre sure Channel 5 audiences will quickly be drawn into this infectious Arctic thriller.ā
Helix premieres in the UK on Monday 20th January with a double bill at 10pm. It will air just days after the US.
