Winnipeg’s Les Jupes are finally back with more determination than ever and a fierce commitment to their art. They are now returning with a brand new EP, Negative Space. We had a listen and here are our thoughts.
The EP kicks off with Save Your Friends, a mild and mellow start to the EP. The vocals guide you through the motions and give the song its true character. The track has some interesting moments notably during its chorus, which is uplifting and anthem-like.
The Voices is more upbeat and more edgy. With an infectious guitar riff and melody at its core the track is easy to get into and shows the band’s skill when creating catchy anthems.
Last up on the EP are Hold Me Down and Interview With A Contract Killer. Both are vibrant tracks on this record with just enough edge to get you gripped throughout. Hold Me Down is more traditional whilst Interview With A Contract Killer is more contemporary. Guitar riffs on both tracks give them that big soundscape.
Les Jupes new EP, Negative Space is interesting and intriguing. With its quirky subject and anthem-like choruses’, the EP makes a good listen.
