Sky Arts to search for inspiring artists

Sky Arts has today announced a search across the UK and Ireland for an inspiring and talented artist.

The winner will be crowned Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year, and will aim to discover and nurture artists of all capabilities.

During the competition, participants will be able to ask advice from some of the world’s leading artists and the series finalists will see their work displayed in the National Portrait Gallery. They will also be awarded a £10,000 commission to paint double-Booker and Costa Award-winning author Hilary Mantel for The British Library, which will then be displayed at the Library and become part of its permanent collection. Another prize will be a year’s supply of art materials courtesy of art supplier Cass Art.

For more information on entering, and the competition itself, please visit Sky.com/Portrait. The closing date for applications will be midday on Thursday 2nd of May.

Good luck!
