BBC Two axes The Hour

The BBC have confirmed that The Hour won’t be returning for a third series.

BBC Two have axed newsroom drama The Hour.

The Hour follows the lives of fictional BBC journalist at the old Lime Grove studios in London, and was a huge success with BBC Two viewers.

Starring Doming West and Ben Whishaw, the show received many nominations, including a Bafta, Emmy and Golden Globe.

An average audience of 2.2 million viewers tuned into the first series, but it ratings fell to 1.47 by the second series.

A BBC spokeswoman said: “We loved the show but have to make hard choices to bring new shows through.”
