Sam Hunt channels Johnny Cash in video for new track ‘Locked Up’

Sam Hunt has released brand new track ‘Locked Up’ along with the music video, which sees him channelling Johnny Cash.

Written by Hunt with Zach Crowell, Jerry Flowers, Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne, ‘Locked Up’ sees the star singing about the dumb decisions that landed him that very short jail sentence. He takes the opportunity to thank his wife Hannah Lee Fowler for sticking by him, throwing a Tammy Wynette reference into the lyrics to reinforce his gratitude.

The music video is directed by Tim Mattia and it was shot at the Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary in Petros, Tenn. In the clip, Hunt reimagines the infamous 1968 Johnny Cash performance at Folsom State Prison, with his wife appearing as June Carter Cash.

Hunt is set for his performance debut of ‘Locked Up’ at theĀ 2024 CMT Music AwardsĀ on 7th April airing Live on CBS from the Moody Center in Austin, Texas.
