Rhiannon Giddens has been named as the guest curator for the 2018 Cambridge Folk Festival.<\/p>\n

Announced as the 2017 festival came to an end, Giddens is a solo artist and the frontwoman of Carolina Chocolate Drops. She has also been starring in the fifth season of Nashville, which airs on CMT in the US and Sky Living HD in the UK.<\/p>\n

Giddens takes over from Jon Boden who was the festival’s first guest curator for its 2017 event.<\/p>\n

Talking about her role Giddens said: \u2018I am honoured to be the next guest curator for Cambridge Folk Festival following on from the amazing Jon Boden who has done a wonderful job this year. Having played the Festival before I know how special Cambridge is and I am really excited to be contributing to the line-up next year as well as performing.\u2019<\/p>\n

Cambridge Live Managing Director, Steve Bagnall said: \u2018In the same year as the Festival\u2019s historic twinning with America\u2019s legendary Newport Festival, we are truly delighted that such an exciting talent as Rhiannon has accepted the role of guest curator for 2018. It has been a huge success in the hands of Jon Boden and fascinating to see the artists he has chosen to programme. We continue to find innovative new ways of developing the potential of the Festival through initiatives like our 1965 Club, the artist guest curator role and placing diversity, emerging talent and young artists at the heart of what we do.\u2019<\/p>\n

It was recently announced that the Cambridge Folk Festival would be twinning with America’s Newport Festival<\/a>. More details on that are expected to be announced soon.<\/p>\n

Cambridge Folk Festival 2018 will take place Thursday 2nd to Sunday 5th August.<\/p>\n
