Multi-platinum entertainer and actor Trace Adkins has released a brand-new song, ‘That Someday,' which accompanies his role as Big Buck' in the action film Day of Reckoning, hitting theaters today. The song, a dark and intense revenge ballad, was written by Adkins and longtime collaborator Casey Beathard, with Mickey Jack Cones handling production. The track plays over the movie’s closing credits, adding a powerful final note to the film's storyline.
‘That Someday' features a haunting guitar melody layered with slide and dobro, creating a cinematic atmosphere that matches the film's themes. Adkins delivers a commanding chorus, declaring, “Today is that someday, that one day I’ve been waiting on, that what goes around comes back around time to face the music song.” The song builds to a climactic moment with a searing guitar solo, amplifying the tension and emotion.
The official music video, directed by Day of Reckoning filmmaker Shaun Silva, has also been released alongside the movie. Adkins stars in the film alongside Zach Roerig, Cara Jade Myers, Billy Zane, Yelawolf, and Struggle Jennings.
Beyond his music, Adkins has been making headlines with a standout performance of his hit ‘(This Ain’t) No Thinkin’ Thing' on Opry 100: Live. The performance was featured in NBC’s recap of the event, highlighted by Billboard as one of the top moments, and included in The Tennessean’s photo feature. He is also set to appear in I Can Only Imagine 2, the sequel to the 2018 hit film, reprising his role as Scott Brickell. The film, produced by Lionsgate, is scheduled for release on March 20, 2026.
Earlier this month, Adkins returned to NBC’s TODAY for the television debut of his single ‘What Color’s Your Wild' where he also discussed his role in Day of Reckoning. The track, written by Monty Criswell and Casey Beathard, was named Disc of the Day by MusicRow, with praise for Adkins’ powerful delivery and the song’s compelling lyrics.
Adkins is now preparing to launch his What Color’s Your Wild Tour on March 29 in Du Quoin, Illinois. The headlining tour will span more than a dozen U.S. cities before wrapping up on October 27 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Fans can find full tour dates and ticket information online.
