Fans of George Strait are in for a treat as indie record stores across the country gear up to celebrate the release of his highly anticipated 31st studio album ‘Cowboys And Dreamers.' On Wednesday, September 4th, two days before the album drops, 87 record stores nationwide across America, including Grimey's in Nashville, will host exclusive listening events. Produced by long-time collaborators Chuck Ainlay, Tony Brown, and George Strait himself, ‘Cowboys And Dreamers' promises to deliver the timeless country sound fans have come to love. The album’s title track, written by Jessie Jo Dillon, Keith Gattis, and Bubba Strait, perfectly captures Strait’s reflection on his journey as an artist. “I thought I should name the whole album Cowboys And Dreamers as I feel like the last of a dying breed, trying to find where I fit,” Strait explains. The album opens with the poignant lyrics: ‘Some days I feel like the last of a dying breed, Trying to find where I fit; Somewhere between high on top of the world, and fighting with calling it quits.’
Following the success of his previous album ‘Honky Tonk Time Machine' which became his 27th No. 1 Billboard Country album, ‘Cowboys And Dreamers' features 13 new tracks. The album includes three previously released singles—'Three Drinks Behind,' ‘MIA Down in MIA' and ‘The Little Things'—as well as a notable collaboration with Chris Stapleton on ‘Honky Tonk Hall Of Fame' and Strait’s rendition of Waylon Jennings’ ‘Waymore’s Blues.'
In addition to the album release, Strait will wrap up 2024 with a final performance at Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium. This event will mark the 37th installment of his ‘Strait to Vegas' series, featuring special guests Chris Stapleton and Little Big Town.
