Listen: Carly Pearce & Riley Green’s new duet slow burns its way into your bed!

Country music thrives on great duets, and Carly Pearce and Riley Green have delivered a powerful new entry into that tradition with their latest collaboration, ‘If I Don’t Leave I’m Gonna Stay.' The song pairs two of modern country’s most distinctive voices for a slow-burning, emotionally charged track that explores the complicated space between love and letting go. Built around the push-and-pull tension of a relationship that refuses to fully end, the duet captures that familiar moment when two people know they should walk away — but can’t quite bring themselves to do it.

At the heart of the song is a classic country theme: the intoxicating pull of a romance that keeps circling back to life. Pearce and Green play the roles of two lovers caught in that cycle, acknowledging that the wine-fuelled reconciliation they’re tempted by will almost certainly lead to heartbreak. The song leans heavily into that “will they or won’t they” tension, with both singers weighing the risk of starting over again even though they know where the story usually ends.

Musically, the track takes a restrained approach that lets the emotion do the talking. Subtle instrumentation and a spacious arrangement give the vocals room to breathe, allowing Pearce and Green’s harmonies to carry the weight of the story. Their voices blend in a way that feels convincingly lived-in, capturing the weariness, longing and desperation of a couple who know each other all too well. Rather than building to a bombastic climax, the song thrives on quiet intensity — every line sounding like a decision that could change everything.

Pearce also had a hand in shaping the song behind the scenes. She co-produced the track alongside producer Ben West, crafting a sound that emphasises emotional authenticity over studio polish. The result is a duet that feels intimate and raw, highlighting the strengths that have made both artists such compelling storytellers within the genre.

For Pearce, the collaboration adds another standout moment to a career already filled with memorable duets and deeply personal songs. Green, meanwhile, brings his trademark Southern warmth and understated delivery to the track, giving the song a balanced dynamic that keeps it grounded even as the emotional stakes rise. Together they deliver a performance that feels equally at home on country radio or echoing across a dimly lit barroom.

The release also arrives at an interesting moment within the Nashville industry, as both artists are connected to the newly launched Blue Highway Records, part of HYBE America’s Nashville expansion. The label was recently introduced following a rebranding of the former Big Machine Label Group and is led by music executive Jake Basden, who was appointed CEO to guide the company’s country, Americana and roots music division.

Blue Highway Records will house a roster of major country artists including Pearce alongside stars such as Thomas Rhett, Brett Young and Midland, while also handling distribution for artists like Riley Green through Nashville Harbor Records & Entertainment. With the global backing of HYBE and a leadership team deeply rooted in the Nashville community, the label aims to shape the next chapter of country music while maintaining the genre’s storytelling traditions.
