Country powerhouse Ella Langley has unveiled her highly anticipated new single ‘Choosin’ Texas,' released via SAWGOD/Columbia Records — and this one comes with some serious star power. The song was co-written and produced by Langley alongside country icon Miranda Lambert, who also lends her unmistakable voice to the background vocals. Rounding out the songwriting team are Ben West, Luke Dick, and Joybeth Taylor.
“Choosin’ Texas” was born out of a writing retreat nearly a year ago, where Langley and Lambert connected over stories that celebrated their Southern roots and untamed spirit. “We wrote a bunch of songs together, but the second one really stuck with me,” Langley shared. “Miranda, being from Texas, started telling us one of her wild stories about drinkin’ and doing something ridiculous, and I said, ‘Well, she’s from Texas, I can tell.’ As soon as I said that, we all just looked at each other like — yep, that’s it! That’s the next song.”
For Lambert, the collaboration felt natural and personal. “Ella may have grown up in Alabama, but she has a rowdy, fiery side that us Texas women recognize and respect,” Lambert said. “She’s an artist through and through, and it was important to me to let her artistry shine through at every stage of the process, from co-writing to co-producing. I’m so proud of how ‘Choosin’ Texas’ does that, and can’t wait to see the world continue to get to know Ella through this song.”
Langley first teased the track back in February during a show in Nacogdoches, Texas, before performing it again to an electric crowd in Houston this past weekend as part of her sold-out Still Hungover Tour. Remaining stops include Helotes, Fort Worth, Athens, Chattanooga, Starkville, and a two-night finale at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium on November 6 and 7. Looking ahead to 2026, Langley will join Eric Church on his Free The Machine Tour before making her debut at Stagecoach Festival.
With her powerhouse vocals and unapologetic storytelling, Ella Langley continues to redefine the sound of modern country music. Her debut album ‘Hungover' (August 2024) earned widespread critical acclaim, featuring her 2x Platinum hit “you look like you love me” and follow-up No. 1 single ‘weren’t for the wind.' After a breakout year that included multiple CMA and ACM Award wins, “Choosin’ Texas” marks another bold chapter for one of country’s brightest and most authentic new voices.
