Blood Lake: Attack of the Killer Lampreys is coming

0

Blood Lake: Attack of the Killer Lampreys will be airing on Animal Planet in the UK next week.

The B-movie follows in the footsteps of the critically-panned but still hugely popular Sharknado and stars Shannen Doherty (Charmed) and Christopher Lloyd (Back To The Future). Blood Lake: Attack of the Killer Lampreys comes from the team behind Sharknado and is sure to get viewers talking.

The movie follows the terrorising tale of eel-like fish, lampreys, which wreak bloody havoc on a small US town. With their giant-toothed, funnel-like mouths attacking all those in their path, the town’s residents quickly learn that a casual dip in the pool, fishing trip or routine trip to the toilet can turn deadly as the killer lampreys hunt for their next blood-filled victim…

Blood Lake: Attack of the Killer Lampreys premieres on Wednesday 4th June at 9pm on Animal Planet as part of Monster Week. Check out some clips from the movie below:

Tides release new single So Close

Hertfordshire 4-piece pop funk band Tides have released their new single So Close.

Formed in 2012, Tides are becoming known for their opaque and sometimes dark lyrics. Single So Close tells a familiar story but features a twist leaving the listener unsure of the outcome.

Singer Aaron says, “The concept is derived from the idea that boys in bands always have a song of Boy/Girl break up. But it’s always inevitably soppy – and always with a happy ending. We all know it’s not that cut and dried in real life and doesn’t speak for the gamut of relationships.”

Tides will be performing a series of headline dates in the UK including:

19th July – Dry Bar, Manchester
24th July – The Borderline, London
25th July – The Institute – The Temple, Birmingham

The band will also be appearing at Rhythms of the World Festival, Boardmasters Festival and Midlothian Festival. Watch the video for So Close below:

Rooftop Film Club enchants Kensington Roof Gardens

0

The Rooftop Film Club have well and truly returned with a brand new line-up of classic movies. The pop up film event takes place across exclusive rooftop venues – The Bussey Building in Peckham Rye, The Queen of Hoxton in Shoreditch and The Kensington Roof Gardens – at selected dates until September 30, 2014.

Last week we attended the screening of Baz Luhrmann’s classic retelling of William Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet; starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes.

The weather proved to be great given its unpredictability in the capital recently. The crowds slowly amassed at the top of the Kensington Roof Gardens, a great hidden gem of a venue with gloriously lavish gardens, great sights and perfect chill-out areas high above the hustle of High Street Kensington. This tranquil setting proved to be perfect for the venue’s first Rooftop Film Club screening of the season.

Part of the admission price gives each ticket-holder a hot snack, prepared at the famous Kensington Roof Gardens outdoor BBQ grill. This is unique to this venue which makes The Rooftop Film Club screenings in Kensington such a memorable affair. There are vegetarian options available too and we wasted no time in grabbing our flame-cooked hamburgers, then taking a seat in the beautiful gardens to soak up the atmosphere.

As darkness slowly fell, so our film experience began with an eager crowd rushing to their seats for the timeless classic of star-crossed lovers – a sold-out screening of one of the 90s most endearing and inventive movies.

Each reveller took to their seats under a weather-proof canopy in a quiet section of the gardens. There are blankets readily available should the elements conspire against you too. Armed with a delicious drink from the bar and our special infra-red headsets, the film began as the London skyline gleamed proudly around us. It’s also worth mentioning just how helpful and nice the staff were – something that too often gets overlooked at big events like these. The Rooftop Film Club have proved (across all of their venues) that customer service is of paramount importance.

As for the film itself, Romeo and Juliet remains one of the best versions of Shakespeare’s classic and a film that has gloriously stood the test of time. It’s still as vibrant and energetic as you remember with breakout performances from everyone and a young cast that have all gone onto super-stardom. The script is flawless and the soundtrack is amazing – it’s hard to believe that the film will celebrate its 20th anniversary in a couple of years!

Seeing it in such unique surroundings as The Kensington Roof Gardens gives fans a great opportunity to see the classics in a new way. For romance, there really isn’t any outdoor venue that perfectly compliments the epic love of Romeo & Juliet quite like The Kensington Roof Gardens does.

The Rooftop Film Club has over 170 films to choose from throughout the summer, including new releases such as Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues and The Lego Movie to classics like The Graduate, Top Gun, Reservoir Dogs, Labyrinth and Casablanca.

Rooftop Film Club founder Gerry Cottle, said: “The Rooftop Film Club has something for everyone. Our big screen, high quality wireless headphones and comfy chairs mean you can sit back, relax and experience film like never before.

“The luxury of being able to watch films under the stars in a completely unique urban environment, appeals to our loyal fan base who love its exclusivity.”

The Rooftop Film Club is proving to be one of the highlights of Summer 2014. With plenty of films to choose from and it’s unique setting, it’s one of the best nights out in London.

Screenings will take place in Peckham Tuesday through Saturday, and the Shoreditch events from Sunday through Wednesday. The Kensington Roof Gardens screenings are rarer so keep an eye on the website for further information. Tickets start from £13 plus booking fee and are now available at: http://www.rooftopfilmclub.com so don’t miss out.

Baby leads internet generation in MTS video

MTS has released a brand new video showcasing the data superiority of its 3GPLUS network in India.

The video features a mother giving birth and takes a turn for the quirky when the baby’s hand brings everything to a halt. The baby then uses a variety of portable devices to to access the Internet whilst everyone in the room looks on with surprise.

The baby finds out how to detach its umbilical cord, takes a selfie and starts a live broadcast before using GPS to navigate out of the hospital. The video sports the tag line ‘Born for the internet. MTS 3GPLUS Network’.

The video was conceptualised by Creativeland Asia who used CGI with visual story-telling.

Amitesh Rao, Director – Brand & Media, MTS India, said, “We needed a campaign to reinforce our strongest differentiator – the fact that we have designed and optimized the MTS 3GPlus network specifically for data. At the same time we needed to be true to the MTS brand that talks to today’s 24×7, always-on, data hungry consumer for whom the internet is the biggest opportunity platform there is. The challenge of course was to do all of this in an engaging and entertaining manner, which is what the story of a new-born baby going online to announce himself to the world does perfectly.”
